You will receive around 50 tiny and rare sea pearls in a glass charm bottle with a sterling silver cap which can be fitted so as to be put onto a charm bracelet if wanted . Or as an embellishment to a pocket watch.
These tiny pearls were sustainably collected on the west coast of Canada by Lagoon Island Pearls' founder Dave LeBlanc. While many pearls nowadays are much larger and mass produced, these rare gems offer an exclusive view into the mysterious world of natural pearl formation. Each pearl was carefully harvested, cataloged and examined under strict scrutiny within a United Nations Biosphere Reserve, voluntary compliance and educational format which continuously assures responsible stewardship. After decades of collection and hundreds of expeditions, ongoing data is compiled to give us a broader understanding of aquatic species, public health and safety, water quality and changes to the marine environment. Natural pearls are renown for translucency, effervescent patterns and structural strength. As well as enjoyed for their outward beauty, they're actively researched by many organizations, institutions and jewelers. Unlike the reckless abandon of yore, this results in healthier reefs, advances modern medicine and provides evidence of our planet's ecology.
The sea mollusc these pearls come from is the California Mussel (Mytilus californianus)
Colour is determined by the protein in the host, which varies during growth cycles from white to brown. A pearl can be any combination of colors or a single color. It would depend on the number of displaced e-cells and the point in the cycle when they were displaced.. New growth is brown... old growth is white
